How to pick the perfect bat?

There are two ways to pick the perfect bat. Science or intuition.

Picking with Science:

Using science you would figure out the perfect weight and length to match your bat speed and arm length. The chart below uses this science to determine the bat size for your body height and size. You want a bat that allows you to have a lot of bat speed but also some weight behind it. It isn’t just how big the bat is but mainly how fast you can swing it.

Picking with Intuition:

If you have ever seen the movie the natural then this is what I mean by using your intuition. Pick up every bat you can find and the one that calls your name may just change your life. There is nothing wrong with using a little snake oil every once in a while.

What is the difference between Aluminium and Wood?

It is usually the weight of the bat that is the difference. Wooden bats are heavier than aluminium. Aluminium bats also have a bigger sweat spot. You can also hit the ball off of the handle or the tip of the bat and it will not break the aluminium bat. This isn’t the case with wood. Therefore wooden bats take a lot more skill to hit with than aluminium.
